West River is a boutique-breeding farm specializing in the more unusual colored Gypsy Horses. While I love the more unique colors it is never at the expense of conformation or temperament. If you are traditionalist and just have to have a black and white gypsy, well, I have some lovely piebald Gypsies also. If you are looking for that special equine companion you have come to the right place. There is no other horse like a Gypsy.
We are back in Southern California. Given the unusually harsh winter all over the country this year, it was nice to deal with 35 and wet as opposed to -20 and snowing. I miss the forest but at least I still have mountains.
I have updated everyone's pictures. It was an incredibly exciting photo session as, John Hockensmith, author of GYPSY HORSES AND THE TRAVELERS' WAY and SPANISH MUSTANGS IN THE GREAT AMERICAN WEST, consented to photograph all of the horses. |
It was amazing to watch him work. After a flurry of washing and blow drying everyone was clean and ready for their photo session. The pregnant mares were excused since they are not looking their best at the moment. John has agreed to come back in the fall to update their pages as well as photograph their new foals.
I am planning to attend a few shows this summer. I had so much fun at The Heartland Feathered Classic that we are planning on going again this summer. I also think that Nobby will be a part of the breed demo for The World Equestrian Games. It should be a fun and exciting summer.
